Dès sa sortie, Wish you were here se hisse en tête des charts anglais et américains. Ce film revient sur la genèse de l’album et sur les sessions d’enregistrement, qui ne furent pas de tout repos. Des interviews exceptionnelles de Roger Waters, David Gilmour et Nick Mason, et de leurs collaborateurs – comme Storm Thorgerson, concepteur de la pochette – sont complétées d’archives, notamment un entretien avec Richard Wright, décédé en 2008.
